How to schedule a script/application to run when windows Startup and Shutdown


Windows operating system provides comprehensive task scheduling features through Task Scheduler application. Once can search for the application in windows and create all kinds of tasks with very user friendly options

Yet here is an another easy way to schedule a script to enable the script, run part of Windows starts up and Windows shutdown.

  1. Open run promopt and type gpedit.msc, then enter
  2. Windows startup - In gpedit.msc (local Policies), Navigate to the following to add script which needs to be run when windows shutdown: Computer Configuration -> Windows settings -> Scripts -> Shutdown -> Properties -> Add
  3. Windows shutdown - In gpedit.msc (local Policies), Navigate to the following to add script which needs to be run when windows startup:  Computer Configuration -> Windows settings -> Scripts -> Startup -> Properties -> Add
